Amazon announces free shipping, heating up the holiday season competition with Target.
Amazon further intensifies the competitive landscape that’s been heating up as the holiday season approaches.
After Target announced it would be making free no-minimum, two-day shipping available to all customers, and Walmart expanded free two-day shipping (with a $35 minimum) to millions of items from third-party sellers as the holiday season arrives, Amazon did not hold back.
Now the Jeff Bezos behemoth is offering free shipping without a purchase minimum for the first time to US shoppers who aren’t Prime members.
While customers who aren’t Prime members usually must meet a $25 minimum to qualify for free shipping, this new promotion waives that fee. Business Insider reports that the speed of the free shipping is between five and eight business days. This offer took effect on November 5th and will run until Amazon can no longer promise items in time for Christmas with free delivery.
