“It’s going to be a mess”.
Alibaba CEO Jack Ma told investors to hunker down for a drawn out trade war between the United States and China as “It’s going to last long, it’s going to be a mess.”
Ma made the remarks at an annual conference for Alibaba investors, just hours after the Trump administration slapped a new round of tariffs on Chinese goods worth $200 billion.
He acknowledged that the ongoing spat with China’s largest trade partner is hurting Alibaba’s business.
As for the Fedex CEO, Fred Smith, he said “the uncertainty around the issue and the potential for additional tariffs is affecting the market, and we’re beginning to see some of the economic activity in China starting to moderate as a result of that.”
